Chrysler Men - A great men's league, with a pretty good prize fund. Teams of four meet at 7:00 on Tuesdays to compete in a standard league format. AT $15 a bowler, this league has a large prize fund, without putting too much risk on its members. Sanctioned by the USBC.
T-Bird Men - Our biggest men's league filling nearly half the building with teams of 5. While this league is where our most serious male bowlers compete, there's plenty of bowlers with averages well below 200 as well. The number of bowlers, combined with the $20 per person weekly dues, guarantee a huge payoff at season's end. The league is handicapped so everyone's got a shot. Sanctioned by the USBC.
Early Birds - A smaller league for the casual woman bowler. A great group of ladies meet to socialize and throw a few bowling balls over lunch. Small teams of 3 mean that you get to know everyone, particularly with their many party days, where the ladies bring in lunch.
Business Women - Big teams, and big fun! Get all the girls together to form a 5 woman team for a great girl's night out on Wednesdays at 6pm. The real business on this league is a competitive night out filled with fun and maybe a drink or two. Sanctioned by the USBC
AM Latecomers - Don't let the name fool you, these ladies show up early in the morning ready to roll! While fun and good times are always the main goal, as ladies day leagues go, these girls mean business. Bowlers of all skill levels are welcome, and a 90% handicap ensures everybody has a chance to win every game.
Afternoon Delights - Coming in just a bit earlier than the Business Women, and finishing up a bit faster with their 4 person teams, these ladies enjoy the thrill of the game. $14 a week builds up a healthy prize fund, but more importantly, these ladies build up some healthy friendships as they battle it out on the lanes. Sanctioned by the USBC
Company Challenge - A great mix of fun and competition. The league goes for the whole winter so you've always got something to do when it's cold outside, but only bowls every other week so you still have time for yourself. Originally set up as a way for businesses to prove who's got the best employees in the area, the league has expanded to welcome any group of four that wants to have a good time. Sanctioned by USBC
Monday Night Football League - A new league at Thunderbird that's designed to give you a good place to hang out and watch the game with your friends. Teams of three will sit on the lanes and watch our huge drop down screens while rooting on their NFL favorite. The league runs through the whole football season, and culminates in a huge Super Bowl bash. While there will be some prize money awarded based on bowling standings alone, each team will also earn football squares for the big game, which everyone will be invited to watch right here with pizza and beer already included. If you want to bring non-bowlers to the Super Bowl party, they can pay a small fee and get their bowling, pizza and beer taken care of as well. To top it all off, we'll also be offering exclusive NFL licensed bowling balls and pins for a small additional cost to league members only.
Tuesday Trio+1 - One of the biggest leagues in the center, because everyone's here for a good time. Men and women both love the casual atmosphere of this large league. $14 a week works out to a great payoff and an even greater time. Sanctioned by USBC
Riverboat Gamblers - A fun mixed league that mixes poker and bowling. In addition to a standard prize fund, teams compete to earn the best poker hand for weekly payouts. Combine those weekly payouts with the end of season prizes, and everyone's got a great chance for an unexpected payday. Perfect for the new bowler, but many seasoned bowlers have enjoyed this one as well. A great way to learn poker, bowling or both for those new to either sport.
Saturday Nite Live/Weekend Homewreckers - These leagues share a format and alternate Saturdays here at the center. Both are made of teams of 4 men and women, bowl at 6pm and charge $12 a week. In fact, because these leagues have so much in common, many teams decide to come in and bowl on them both to double their chances of a first place finish. Saturday Nite Live has a few more teams, and therefore more prize money, but whichever Saturday works best for you is sure to be a good time.
Wanderers - Four person teams meeting for good times and bowling every other Sunday in the late afternoon. $15 per bowler gives this league one of the larger prize funds for an every other week schedule. With a variety of bowlers in terms of age and ability, the only common denominator among this group is an open attitude to meeting new people and having a good time.
Bucket of Suds - Perhaps more an excuse to hang out than an actual bowling league, this is one of our most relaxed and fun short season leagues. $12 per bowler covers bowling, plus includes a bucket (or pitcher) of beer for the team. Mostly younger folks come out on Saturday nights for this group to have some fun and knock a few pins down while knocking a few beers down. There is some end of season money, but the real value of this league is the fun you'll have hanging out with your buds putting down some suds.
Kids Leagues - All our kids leagues are for bumper and regular bowlers, from those just old enough to throw the ball by themselves up to around 12 years old. These leagues are a great way to get involved in organized sports, without spending a ton of cash. Only $6 for the Monday and Tuesday afternoon programs or $7 for our sanctioned Saturday program covers your bowling as well as shoes. There will also be coaching available for those that want it. Last year a team from our Saturday program took 3rd in the state competition, earning college scholarship money for those bowlers. Plus, with bowling being the fastest growing sport at the high school level nationwide, it's a great way to get your child started on a lifetime of fun, and a great way to make new friends at any point in life.
Senior Drop-In - Meeting Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at noon, any of these leagues are great for all types of senior citizens. With no obligation to keep coming back, you can come by and check out the league and meet the other bowlers once, and not worry about being stuck paying for something you didn't enjoy (as if it were possible to not enjoy our leagues). $5 per session covers 3 games, and coffee, or save a dollar on Thursday and focus on your bowling without caffeine interference. Bowl against your own average to earn points, and enjoy a great banquet with all the leagues at the end of the season.
Individual Seniors - Bowl against your own average for points and earn a plaque for being the hottest senior around. Still only $5 a week.
Senior Trio - Early Tuesday mornings the lanes heat up with teams of seniors battling it out for fun and prizes. Okay, so it's mostly just for fun, but isn’t that prize enough?
Red Wing Hockey Club - A great chance to bond with your kids by participating, and watching sports. Each bowler will get 2 tickets to a Red Wings home game, as well as a parking pass and food voucher for Joe Louis Arena! Only a 12 week league, and only $11.50 per bowler! Great for kids from bumper ages through preteen.
Welcome to the Season! It's the most wonderful time of the year once again, league start up time. Whether you're new to bowling, or have been doing it for 60 years, we've got a league just right for you. Please look over the list of leagues in this month's letter to see which you'd like to be a part of. Every league listed here is looking to add bowlers, so if it looks like fun, just jump on in.
